Campaigning 101: A good moment

Campaigning is busy work.

Marketing, messaging, networking, speech making…

It’s easy to focus on these details and lose track of the reason you entered the race in the first place. In these moments, endorsements—people publicly cheering your good qualities—feel so good. These comments help boost confidence in the vulnerable moments.

But there’s something better than an endorsement, and it’s this:

Yesterday, a fellow Gen-Xer said, “Now that you’re running I’ll start paying attention to civic issues.”

This comment reminded me why I signed up for the job.
